The Henderson has been recognized as First Runner-Up, Project of the Year in the prestigious Glass Magazine Awards. With its fluid form and pioneering façade engineering, the tower showcases the full potential of architectural glass — and sedak is proud to have played a key role in bringing this vision to life.
The Henderson, an architectural masterpiece in Hong Kong, embodies Zaha Hadid Architects‘ dedication to redefining contemporary design, seamlessly merging sculptural elegance with pioneering construction techniques. The project exemplifies the transformative use of glass, maximizing its material potential to create a dynamic façade.
sedak proudly supplied bespoke glass units, integral to both the façade and interior of The Henderson.
- 1.019 flat glass units
- 926 single-curved façade glass units
- 650 double-curved façade glass units
- 41 hot-bent laminates for the interior
The building‘s façade is a testament to precision glass engineering, employing cutting-edge technologies to fulfill both aesthetic and structural demands. This complex project required producing a vast array of custom glass elements in unique shapes. Each panel underwent meticulous inspection by sedak to ensure flawless alignment with the architectural vision, maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Innovative glass bending techniques were essential to realize the echoing organic form of the known as Hong Kong orchid tree. sedak utilized multi-curvature and 3D bending, along with gravity-bending methods, to achieve seamless free-form curves. Bespoke coatings, including full-surface and gradient highly mirroring ones, were used to meet the complex visual and performance requirements of the design.
