Laminated during production, the glass strip protects against weather and moisture, preserving the appearance and function of the interlayer. Additionally, sedak clear-edge offers protection against edge impacts or collisions, tested according to DIN 18008-4 Appendix E & F. As a "sacrificial material," only the glass strip breaks, maintaining the overall load-bearing capacity of the composite. This allows for slimmer constructions with double laminates on balustrades and railings, eliminating the need for opaque edge protection.

What is sedak clear-edge?

sedak clear-edge is a laminated glass strip that is integrated directly into the edge of laminated glass. It reliably protects the interlayer from weathering, moisture, and mechanical impact - without any visible metal profiles. The lamination is completed during manufacturing; retrofitting it afterward is not possible.

Which standards and regulations does sedak clear-edge comply with?

sedak clear-edge is tested and certified according to DIN 18008-4, Annex E & F. This certification confirms its suitability as a code-compliant glass railing/balustrade without the need for an additional top rail or edge profile.

How does clear-edge differ from aluminum edge protection?

Unlike traditional metal profiles, our edge protection is made entirely of glass.

This presents an ideal opportunity to upgrade to seamless designs, as we can produce these new units in lengths of up to 12 meters (39 ft).
