Constructional masterworks in glass

From 14 – 19 January 2019, the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems takes place in Munich. With the focus on “extreme supporting structures”, sedak presents constructional masterworks in glass, which demonstrate the technical progress of glass as a constructional material.

Visitors can view a 20 meter long glass fin with a weight of 1.6 tons. It is only held by two stainless steel arms, which are laminated into the fin. Furthermore, a 10 meters long and 600 kilograms heavy glass see saw will be part of the sedak exhibits. The glass see saw, which was created in collaboration with Eckersley O’Callaghan,  has already been displayed at glasstec 2018. By purchasing a stake in the Italian company sunglass industry, sedak has extended its portfolio to include hot bending technology. Therefore, sedak will exhibit a 5 meter tall hot bent glass laminate, which is composed of two cylinder-shaped glass panes and demonstrates the newly gained knowhow.

Moreover, sedak presents an innovative glass balustrade, which offers protection against diverse impacts due to a laminated-on glass pane with a width of 17 millimeters, a height of 6 millimeters and a length of 2.5 meters. It enables the use of two-layer laminates where previously the building regulations required three layer laminates to be used.
