All-Glass Stairs - Apple Store, Regent Street
Retail Store, Regent Street – London, UK

Glass Stair with a generous railing

An all-glass staircase and an all-glass bridge, linked by all-glass balustrades, are the centerpieces of the large 20,000sqft flagship store.

The laminated and polished edge annealed glass treads span 2.4m between their all-glass bearing walls. The unusually large glass bridge with a width of 6m has glass side railings that span 6m, supporting glass crossbeams that support the bridge's glass floor. 6m x 1m opalescent glass ceiling panels hang with hidden support over the bridge and stair. sedaks scope of works also included the retro-fit of the existing facade of this listed building with bronzed profile glazed arches.

Each Apple store attempts to stretch the boundaries, expanding the technology and language of structural glass.
